The Prime Minister of Pakistan (Wazir-e-Azam) is the head of the government of Pakistan, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The Prime Minister is elected by the members of the National Assembly. This post of Prime Minister is for five years. In Pakistan, the post of Prime Minister (PM) was created as soon as the country was formed. However, the political dynamics remained turbulent since then. Its first PM was assassinated in 1951 and after that seven different PMs took oath within a period of six years. Soon, an army general caused coup d’tat and the PM post got abolished for about 13 years till 1971. Again the post had been abolished for more times when the military take over happened. In 2010, however, after an amendment, the Prime Minister declared the head of the state with more power than any other official, including the President. Here is the list of Prime Ministers of Pakistan. Since Pakistan’s founding in 1947, 19 men and women have been appointed as PM. It’s a matter of surprise that since independence not a single PM has completed his five-year tenure in Pakistan.
