According to the criterion, the tallest human was Robert Wadlow of the United States of America (1918–1940), who was 8 ft 11.1 in (272 cm). He received news media attention in 1939 when he was measured to be the tallest man in the world beating John Rogan’s record, after turning to height of 8 ft 9 in (267 cm).
As a general rule, females are shorter than males, the tallest verified female was Trijntje Keever who was 8 ft 4 in (254 cm) of Netherlands (1616-1633).
The disease which causes the height of most giants is acromegaly or gigantism.
